In the spring of 2009, our parish began a pilot project called the Acre of Hope when a parishioner donated land for a vegetable garden-1 acre. The first year it yielded so much produce we were able to feed hundreds of folks in Windsor, Harrow, Colchester and surrounding areas.
Then in 2010 another acre was donated; the Acre of Love. So this year we have two acres under cultivation and many volunteers who weed (oh do they weed) and harvest. But the project has taken on a life of its own and hasn’t stopped there.
We also now have chickens ready for dinner in July and another acre of land donated; the Acre of Faith, which we will prepare and plant next spring.
As with any project we always need help. We are especially in need of an Administrator or a “Working Group” as the project now has many facets, and cannot be run by 2 people one of whom already guides the Good Samaritan Program. If you would like to be an integral part of, or are simply  interested in learning the ins and outs or volunteering for this amazing endeavor please call the office for details 519.738.4198 or Derek Davis 519.738.6495.

PS. The weeding is done Tuesdays and Thursdays just call 519.738.6495 or show up at one of our fields!

         HELP NEEDED FOR OUTREACH PROJECT

St. Alban's was able to raise $675 to donate to the Good Samaritan Project. This was accomplished by making donations in memory of loved ones to purchase angels for the Tree of Memories during the Advent/Christmas season.
